AUrate - versatile jewellery for any occasion

There is a fine line between doing too much with your jewellery and doing way too little. Personally, I wear jewellery every single day that I step out of the house. I can't leave my house without a pair of earrings on and if I do, I just feel naked. When it comes to jewellery, I like to wear pieces that are simple and classic. I wouldn't really wear anything too big or too bold. I remember that last month I bought a diamond choker in Miss Selfridge that I was trying to convince myself to wear out to my work Christmas party. However, it just wasn't me and it didn't feel right. Although I've seen other people wear it and I think they look absolutely amazing, I just personally didn't feel comfortable trying to pull that sort of look off.

When I came across the new AUrate collection, I was immediately drawn to pretty much everything they have. The collection has three different edits - The Sensu Edition, The Lariat Edition and The Connection Edition. The jewellery is so sleek and simple, but the designs are ones that would still have people wondering where you got your necklace or your earrings or that ring on your finger from. I always like people to notice if I have something different on, but I don't like that to be because it's over the top and garish. This collection basically sums up the exact style of jewellery that I love to wear and in today's post I'm going to be discussing just how versatile it is.

Any of the pieces from the collection, worn with a plain top like the one I'm wearing below, would bring that something extra to your outfit. And that means no more diving through your wardrobe searching desperately for that "nice top" we all hunt for to wear with jeans. Adding jewellery to a plain outfit is like creating that nice top with the things you already have. Also, for people who wear glasses like I do, please invest in a nice pair for yourself. There's nothing worse than needing to see and having an old, battered pair of glasses that ruins your outfit. It might be a little bit more expensive than you were hoping for, but it means no more embarrassment when you have to wear them outside! I have gone into university before with sellotape on my glasses because they were broken and I was too lazy to go and get a new pair - this was not a cute look.

I find that jewellery can really transform any look. You can step out in stud earrings during the day and look casual, but step out in a layered necklace and a pair of statement earrings with your hair tied back into a low bun and immediately you've got yourself an evening look. This can all be done simply by changing your jewellery and it's such a quick and easy way to transform your look.

Off the shoulder tops are great because they work during the day and in the evening too. Pairing them with jeans and boots means that you don't even have to change your outfit if you're going to be out all day - just change your jewellery. I think it's clear that I think jewellery is important, so let's have a look at what the AUrate collection has to offer.

The Sensu Edition

For me, this edit is all about adding an eye-catching element to a pretty plain and simple day outfit. Inspired by the silk fans used in Japanese Kabuki dancing, it's exploration of different shapes is really going to give your outfit just that tiny bit extra.

The Connection Edition

This edit works well for both day and night. If I was meeting a friend for a birthday brunch or going to a bar for some drinks in the early hours of the evening for example, I would choose a pair of earrings like this. Generally, hoops for me are reserved for nights out. But the interlinking style of this tones down what would usually be a very in-your-face look with hoop earrings. This makes it quite wearable for something a little bit more casual, but not as casual as going for coffee or going shopping. I would choose something from the Sensu edit for something like that.

The Lariat Edition

And finally my favourite edit! The delicate look and feel of these pieces are perfect for an evening meal or a little date with your friends at a posh restaurant. I love getting my shoulders out and I think that with your hair in a low ponytail/bun and a strapless top or dress, this collection would work perfectly. A long drop earring or a thin chain against bare skin is such a classy look and I am all about looking classy. Just any kind of thin drop earring or necklace is a win for me!

Apart from the fact that their jewellery is all handmade from ethically sourced materials, AUrate also work in partnership with Mastery Charter to give back to the community in New York, where they are based. For every piece of jewellery purchased, they have given thousands of books to students across the city in a punchy initiative called A Book For Your Look. I think this is such a great idea as books are the one thing that provide anyone and everyone access to knowledge and opportunity. I truly believe that reading is the key to success in all aspects of your life - stimulating your mind, your wellbeing, your creativity. Books are the host to a whole world of things.
